Phi Gamma Delta was founded May 1, 1848, at Jefferson College in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania by the "Immortal Six" - John Templeton McCarty, Samuel Beatty Wilson, James Elliott Jr., Ellis Bailey Gregg, Daniel Webster Crofts and Naaman Fletcher.
